The Academy Building
Originally designed by A.J. Warner and completed in 1873, The Rochester Free Academy had stood empty for many years before its conversion to apartments. The developer hired Blake H. Held, Architect as lead for the project, having a host of specialists, engineers, and contractors working with him to complete the restoration and rehabilitation. Together, we overcame many unique challenges presented by the aging structure to create a series of unique apartments having sixteen foot tall spaces, lofts, and many remaining elements from the original structure. Upon completion the project received both The New York State Historic Preservation Award and the Landmark Society Preservation Award.
